Do you have a good story to tell about your business, charity or social enterprise – but nobody to tell it for you?
I can make your message matter – by majoring on strong original content, the power of good storytelling.
Why Janarchy PR? Because actions speak louder WITH words. As a freelance in the so called ‘gig’ economy I’m not cushioned by PAYE, pensions and paid holidays – and that drives me to succeed. I offer well written strategically targeted press across a range of outlets, pictures that help tell the story, allied social media; lobbying skills; event assistance – and sheer persistence.
I draw on 40 years daily newspaper, radio and freelance magazine experience, as a human interest writer, celebrity/author/politician interviewer, columnist and travel, food and wine reviewer in Lancashire. Also experience of broadcasting (Radio City Liverpool). For more than five years now I’ve been freelancing as a PR.
First rate contacts online, on air and in print in press, radio and regional TV and more gained from a standing start within highly specialist fields have helped drive up the media credibility of clients. A strong following on multi-platform social media further raises awareness. I also directly handle social media and website updates for several corporates, start-ups and charities.
Clients include a hotel-retail consortium, micro-brewery, business network, medical practice, author/entertainer and charities. I provide freelance backup for both a wine agency and a PR agency. Reviews of restaurants have appeared in the Good Food Guide and two county magazines as well as local press along with freelance articles on art, theatre, travel, celebrities, lifestyle and gardening. Corporate clients have featured in local, county, regional and national press and specialist business magazines and online portals: Lancashire Business View (including on the cover), BDaily, Insider, Global Recruiter, Recruiter International, Sunday Times, Telegraph and more.
News stories and features, even as a freelance PR, have gone viral – including internationally – as a result of spotting unique selling points to interest news editors and national agencies.
I’ve won considerable support from press, radio and TV since I left the security blanket of full time journalism – thanks to being able to spot and seize story opportunities, hit deadlines and headlines.
While the corporates pay the bills my heart rests in charities and social enterprises.
One former charity client Blackpool Carers Centre starred in the BBC DIY SOS Big Build for Children in Need – watched by 3.9m viewers.
On my first day with a new client – N-Vision, Blackpool Fylde and Wyre Society for the Blind – I left with a human interest story that prompted a very busy press and photo call weeks later. It appeared on that evening’s BBC NWT, local radio and press. It’s since gone global. Hit the nationals after Granada Reports featured Brian’s first ‘sight’ of a football match for nearly 30 years – when he watched Fleetwood FC (fortunately not his beloved Watford) get roundly trounced by Preston North End in a pre-season friendly.
Since then Britain’s (arguably!) oldest newsreader Joy Killip of the charity’s Talking News service has taken over an anchor seat at BBC NWT – after being given an affectionate tribute.
And one of Britain’s oldest women – Eileen Maher, 100, resident at N-Vision’s Princess Alexandra Home – went viral .. across 15 pages of one leading search engine using the words ‘Stella Artois and custard creams’ … because that combo, it transpires, is the elixir of youth! Hundreds of thousands of hits – because of an angle that leapt out.
Disability First – which clinched £1m of funding from the Coastal Communities Fund – showcased the power of partnership and people who care to form a brand new inclusion project Access Fylde Coast.
I offer press release writing workshops, social media strategy, damage limitation, what-if scenarios, and pro bono if I have the time and believe in the cause – as with a local woman (and her support dog) who desperately needed to raise funds fast for a new wheelchair.
Currently consolidating a market in short stories and ‘ghost’ blogging/tweeting for others. Daily rates, retainer, one off press releases or concerted campaign fees are brokered to match your budget because I know every penny … and every word … counts.
