I draw on 40 years daily newspaper, radio and magazine experience, including freelance, as a human interest writer, celebrity/author/politician interviewer, columnist and travel, food and wine reviewer in Lancashire. Also experience of broadcasting (Radio City Liverpool). For more than four years now I’ve been freelancing as a PR.

I assist a wine agency – having penned a wine column for years – and still write or blog on wine, travel, food (former Good Food Guide as well as newspaper reviewer), lifestyle, gardening, entertainment and other areas. Freelance articles – for clients – have been published in county press and other glossies. Corporate clients have featured in local, county, regional and national press and specialist business magazines and online portals: Lancashire Business View (including on the cover), Insider, Global Recruiter, Recruiter International, Sunday Times, Telegraph and more.

Last year one charity client Blackpool Carers Centre starred in the BBC DIY SOS Big Build for Children in Need – watched by 3.9m viewers.
On my first day with a new client – N-Vision, Blackpool Fylde and Wyre Society for the Blind – I left with a human interest story that prompted a very busy press and photo call weeks later. It appeared on that evening’s BBC NWT, local radio and press. It’s since gone global.
My social media accounts average from 50k views a month to 150k-300k views – and have soared to 850k when covering showbusiness or courting celebrities for charities. I use multi platforms, monitor the analytics, and share what works and what doesn’t with clients, and their supporting teams.
I offer press release writing workshops, social media strategy, damage limitation, what-if scenarios, and some pro bono if I can spare the time and believe in the cause – as with a local woman (and her support dog) who desperately needed to raise funds fast for a new wheelchair.
